Auddia Inc. (NASDAQ:AUUD) ("Auddia" or the "Company"), an AI first technology company that has built a proprietary AI platform for audio identification and classification to reinvent how consumers engage with audio and how artists get discovered, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a Notice of Allowance for a foundational patent covering the company's core AI technology that enables commercial-free AM/FM radio and powers Discovr Radio, Auddia's emerging-artist discovery platform.
The newly allowed patent — "A Method for Classifying Segments of an Audio Stream of a Radio Program" — protects Auddia's proprietary machine-learning system that:
- Classifies every frame of a radio stream as music, talk, or commercial
- Applies probabilistic correction to eliminate classification errors
- Identifies song boundaries using overlapping-frame analysis
- Determines matching songs with high precision
- Detects transition points between songs and non-music content
The patent secures the intelligence layer that makes Auddia's commercial-free radio experience possible and forms the technological backbone of Discovr Radio's ability to insert emerging-artist tracks into live AM/FM streams without disrupting the listener experience.
Auddia's Growing IP Portfolio: 6 Issued Patents, 6 Pending
With this allowance, Auddia now holds 6 issued U.S. patents with an additional 6 patents pending. The portfolio protects the company's end-to-end AI pipeline for:
- Audio-stream segmentation
- Commercial detection and removal
- Song-boundary identification
- Emerging-artist insertion
- Real-time audio reconstruction
"This patent is the core moat behind our ability to modernize AM/FM radio with AI," said Jeff Thramann, CEO of Auddia and architect of MCFN. "It protects the technology that makes commercial-free radio possible and underpins the entire Discovr Radio experience."
Strengthening the McCarthy Finney (MCFN) IP Platform
The allowance of this patent expands the broader MCFN intellectual-property footprint. Across subsidiaries, MCFN now controls 20 issued patents with 9 additional patents pending:
- LT350: 14 issued patents + 2 pending
- Auddia: 6 issued patents + 6 pending
- Voyex: 1 pending patent
"This allowance validates years of engineering investment and we believe positions Auddia as the category owner of AI-enhanced AM/FM radio," added Thramann. "It creates a durable competitive advantage as we expand Discovr Radio into new markets and partnerships."
