Quantinuum Inc. (NASDAQ:QNT) had the kind of debut that gets the room buzzing — then quiets it down.

QNT Opens For Trading

The quantum computing company opened at $68 per share Thursday afternoon, a 13% pop above its $60 IPO price, before sellers stepped in and pushed shares back to around $62 — still above the offering price, but well off the intraday high of $71.35.

The Colorado-based quantum computing company raised $1.68 billion Wednesday night through the sale of 28 million Class A shares, pricing above an already-elevated range of $53 to $55 after demand came in roughly 20 times oversubscribed.

Underwriters hold a 30-day greenshoe option on up to 4.2 million additional shares, with the offering set to close June 5.

Formed in 2021 from the merger of Honeywell's (NYSE:HON) quantum computing division and UK-based Cambridge Quantum, Quantinuum positions itself as a full-stack platform spanning hardware and software.

It’s a compelling story — but an expensive one. The company posted 2025 revenue of $30.9 million against a net loss of $192.6 million, making the fade off highs unsurprising for investors who watch burn rate.

Quantum Sector Reacts

The broader quantum cohort was mostly in the red as the new name grabbed the spotlight. IonQ, Inc. (NYSE:IONQ), the sector’s largest pure-play by market cap, dropped 4.8% — a classic rotation signal. D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NYSE:QBTS) was the outlier, adding 1.3%.

Smaller names had a rougher afternoon. Quantum Computing, Inc. (NASDAQ:QUBT) edged down 1.43%, Infleqtion, Inc. (NASDAQ:INFQ) shed 2.99% and Xanadu Quantum Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:XNDU) fell 2.7%.

QNT's fade from opening highs doesn’t erase the significance of the day. Quantinuum is the most well-capitalized quantum computing pure-play to hit public markets, and Honeywell will retain approximately 48% of combined voting power — a vote of confidence from a company that knows the technology intimately.

Whether Quantinuum can hold its IPO-day gains will set the tone for the entire sector heading into summer.

QNT Stock Price Activity: Quantinuum shares were up 0.46% at $60.27 at the time of publication on Thursday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
