Owkin and Sanofi SA (NASDAQ:SNY) on Friday announced they have expanded their partnership through a new multi-year collaboration focused on developing next-generation AI-powered biopharma agents to support drug discovery and development.
The agreement also includes a five-year license for Owkin's AI Scientist platform, K Pro, marking the latest phase in a relationship that began in 2021.
Partnership Builds On Existing AI Research Efforts
The companies first teamed up through a 90 million euro strategic partnership centered on oncology target identification and patient subgroup analysis.
The collaboration was later broadened to support drug positioning efforts within Sanofi's immunology pipeline.
The newly announced initiative represents a deeper integration of AI into pharmaceutical research workflows.
Under the agreement, Owkin will lead the end-to-end development of AI-driven biopharma agents built specifically for Sanofi.
K Pro To Support Drug Development Decisions
The AI agents will be deployed through K Pro, Owkin's AI Scientist platform.
K Pro combines multimodal patient data with specialized biological AI systems to support activities across the early-stage discovery through clinical development.
Sanofi Targets Faster And More Confident Decision-Making
Owkin said the development of K Pro aligns with its broader goal of achieving Biological Artificial Superintelligence, a technology that could help the pharmaceutical industry tackle and potentially automate some of its most complex R&D challenges.
