Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) shares rose on Tuesday as investors moved back into AI infrastructure names tied to data-center expansion.
The company’s stock price gained nearly 6% premarket, while S&P 500 futures rose 0.4%.
The move came as rack-scale AI system headlines kept investor attention on the data-center buildout. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) recently unveiled Helios, its first rack-scale AI system, which CNBC said is expected to ship later this year to customers including Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT), Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ:META), OpenAI and Oracle Corp. (NYSE:ORCL).
AMD Challenges Nvidia
AMD is positioning Helios as a direct rival to NVIDIA Corp.’s (NASDAQ:NVDA) Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems.
Futurum Group estimates Nvidia controls more than 95% of the data-center GPU market, while AMD holds about 4.5%.
Marvell’s rally suggests traders view the AI capital-spending race as a positive signal for adjacent silicon and networking demand.
With futures higher before the open, investors also appeared to favor higher-beta technology exposure rather than treating the latest GPU competition as a zero-sum story.
Technical Analysis
From a longer-term trend lens, MRVL is still holding a bullish structure: it’s trading 57.7% above its 200-day SMA ($130.42) and 17.1% above its 100-day SMA ($175.61), which keeps the bigger uptrend intact despite recent volatility.
The near-term setup is choppier, with the stock trading 16.3% below its 20-day SMA ($245.68) and 12.9% below its 50-day SMA ($236.01), so this premarket bounce is happening from a "below short-term trend" posture that can turn into overhead supply if follow-through fades.
