Astera Labs Inc. (NASDAQ:ALAB) shares are in the spotlight Monday, with earnings on deck, a wide split in analyst targets and a technical setup showing bullish long-term trends but bearish short-term momentum.

Earnings Preview & History

Astera reports earnings on August 4. The company is expected to report second-quarter earnings per share of 69 cents along with revenue of $360.45 million. For the prior quarter, the company reported earnings per share of 61 cents, beating the consensus estimate of 54 cents. Astera Labs also posted revenue of $308.36 million, exceeding the consensus estimate of $292.23 million.

What To Watch

Investors will be closely tracking gross margin trends, since management guided to approximately 73% for the quarter — a step down from Q1’s 76.3% — as newer, lower-margin switch products ramp. Progress on the Scorpio X-Series 320-lane Smart Fabric Switch and the broader Scorpio P-Series lineup will also be in focus, given management’s view that the AI fabric switch market could reach $20 billion by 2030. Commentary on customer diversification across hyperscalers, along with any updates on the second-half 2026 production ramp for Scorpio products, should offer additional clues on whether Astera Labs can sustain its recent growth pace heading into 2027.

A Longer-Term Uptrend in Repair Mode

At around $302, Astera is trading 19.3% below its 20-day SMA ($374.17) and 13.7% below its 50-day SMA ($350.04), which keeps the near-term trend tilted toward "repair mode" rather than a clean uptrend. At the same time, it’s still 20.3% above the 100-day SMA ($250.97) and 46.7% above the 200-day SMA ($205.87), so the bigger-picture trend is still pointing up.

MACD is the key momentum check right now: it’s below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which suggests upside pressure is cooling versus the prior upswing. In plain terms, when MACD sits below its signal line, rallies often need follow-through buying to prove momentum is returning rather than fading.

The longer-term structure still has bullish markers, including the golden cross in May (50-day SMA above the 200-day SMA), but the stock has to rebuild short-term trend support after the recent swing high in June. The 12-month gain of 135.05% also helps explain why pullbacks can be sharp—there’s a lot of prior upside to digest when momentum cools.

  • Key Support: $289.50 — a nearby level where buyers previously stepped in, and a break below it would put more focus on the 100-day trend area.
