Shares of Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI) are climbing Thursday afternoon following blowout fourth-quarter earnings from Microsoft. Here’s what investors need to know.

Hyperscale AI Demand Triggers Super Micro Computer Surge

As a provider of high-density AI server architectures and liquid-cooling rack solutions, Super Micro stands as a direct beneficiary of accelerating enterprise infrastructure spending. Microsoft reported fourth-quarter revenue of $90.01 billion with Azure cloud revenue jumping 43%, confirming that enterprise AI adoption remains robust.

Earnings Call Confirms Aggressive Data Center Infrastructure Spending

The key driver for SMCI’s rally is Microsoft’s massive capital expenditure roadmap. On Microsoft’s earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood highlighted that fourth-quarter capital expenditures reached $41 billion, with two-thirds allocated to short-lived assets like CPUs and GPUs, while projecting first-quarter capital expenditures to top $50 billion.

Hood emphasized that “demand continues to exceed available capacity,” supporting plans for $175 billion in fiscal 2027 capital expenditures to double data center capacity.

Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella added that Microsoft brought 31 new data centers online this quarter to deploy next-generation rack-scale AI infrastructure.

Because Super Micro specializes in custom server builds and liquid-cooled infrastructure essential for hyperscale facilities, investors are potentially viewing Microsoft’s historic capex spending as a proxy for SMCI’s future order growth.
