DoorDash, Inc. (NASDAQ:DASH) shares are trading higher on Wednesday, outperforming a mixed broader market as investors position ahead of the company’s second-quarter earnings report.
The Nasdaq is down 0.55%, while the S&P 500 has slipped 0.15%.
What Is Driving DoorDash Stock Today?
DASH’s gains appear driven by stock-specific demand rather than a broader market rally. The Consumer Discretionary sector is up just 0.06%, ranking fourth among 11 sectors, while overall market breadth remains slightly negative with an advance/decline ratio of 0.8.
Materials and Healthcare lead sector gains, up 1.11% and 0.88%, respectively, while Communication Services lag. Against this mixed backdrop, DoorDash’s outperformance suggests investor focus on company-specific catalysts.
The key catalyst is DoorDash’s second-quarter earnings report, due after the market close today (August 5, 2026), followed by a conference call at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Analysts expect EPS of 48 cents, down from 65 cents a year ago, while revenue is forecast to rise to $4.33 billion from $3.28 billion.
In its first-quarter update, DoorDash guided for second-quarter Marketplace GOV of $32.4 billion to $33.4 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $770 million to $870 million. The company also expects more than $50 million in gross costs tied to its Dasher gas relief program.
Critical Levels To Watch for DASH Stock
DASH is trading well above its key moving averages—about 8% above the 200-day SMA at $190.04 and 16% above the 50-day SMA at $177.26—signaling that buyers remain in control of the intermediate-term trend.
However, the broader setup is still mixed, as the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA following the December 2025 "death cross," which could create overhead resistance.
Momentum is improving, with MACD above its signal line and the histogram in positive territory. This suggests selling pressure is fading, and traders are increasingly willing to buy pullbacks.
The next key resistance is near $232.50, where the rally could pause. On the downside, $166.50 remains the key support level and would become important if the stock retraces.
