KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) stock gained almost 4% on Friday as chip-equipment names catch a bid alongside a firmer risk tone. The Nasdaq is up 0.9% while the S&P 500 has gained 0.43%.

A broader semiconductor rally and optimism around AI infrastructure demand lifted investor sentiment.

The semiconductor industry is still growing rapidly, but investors are reassessing chip stocks as AI expectations, supply-chain risks and U.S. policy actions reshape the market.

KLA is one of the largest semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment manufacturers, focused on process control—tools that inspect wafers for defects and verify extremely precise measurements during R&D and high-volume manufacturing.

Chip Demand Remains Strong

The semiconductor industry remains on a strong growth path as AI demand, data-center expansion and global technology investment continue to lift chip sales.

The Semiconductor Industry Association said global chip sales reached $403.3 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up 35.1% from the first quarter, while SIA President and CEO John Neuffer said global chip sales are expected to exceed $1.5 trillion in 2026.

At the same time, it’s holding about 1.5% above the 100-day SMA ($196.46) and more than 21% above the 200-day SMA ($164.62), which supports the longer-term uptrend.
