Harbor Capital‘s newly-launched ETFs target the broader ecosystems powering AI leaders, including Alphabet, Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Meta Platforms, Inc (NASDAQ:META), SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX), OpenAI and Anthropic.

The five actively managed funds charge a 0.59% expense ratio and use proprietary scoring based on company filings, earnings calls, news and market data to identify businesses with economic ties to each AI ecosystem.

Rather than simply owning the AI companies themselves, the ETFs target their suppliers, infrastructure providers and other beneficiaries. For example, DEPW holds Google at 19.9%, followed by Broadcom and NextEra Energy Inc (NYSE:NEE), while XAIW has SpaceX at 22%, with Nvidia and Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI) among its largest holdings.

The strategy also offers a public-market route to AI companies that remain privately held. OAIW targets companies connected to OpenAI, while ANTW focuses on Anthropic’s ecosystem, including public companies that provide capital, cloud capacity, and computing infrastructure.

QUICK CONTEXT: AI ETFs Move Beyond Big Tech

The Harbor launches reflect a broader shift in thematic ETF construction as investors look beyond a handful of mega-cap AI stocks. Instead of treating AI exposure as synonymous with Nvidia, Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) or other dominant technology companies, ecosystem-based strategies seek to capture the infrastructure, power, cloud, networking and hardware suppliers benefiting from AI spending.

The approach is particularly notable for private AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic. Investors cannot directly buy shares of either company through public markets, but ETFs can provide indirect exposure through publicly traded partners, investors and infrastructure providers. Harbor’s funds therefore turn private AI growth into a public-market portfolio theme.

The strategy also broadens AI exposure across sectors. Harbor says the funds can invest in companies across information technology, communications services, industrials, consumer discretionary, and utilities, reflecting the increasingly capital-intensive nature of AI development.
