Sandisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) stock is trading down nearly 5% in Tuesday’s premarket session. The decline comes as investors pull back from high-beta technology stocks amid weaker index futures.
Nasdaq futures are down 1.10%, while S&P 500 futures have fallen 0.41%. The pullback also follows a sharp rally. Sandisk shares closed 8.88% higher in Monday’s session.
The move suggests profit-taking and broader market weakness after Sandisk’s strong run. The stock has gained sharply over the past year. As a result, weaker market sentiment could prompt traders to lock in profits.
Technical Analysis
Despite the premarket decline, Sandisk remains well above its longer-term moving averages. The stock is trading 23.9% above its 20-day simple moving average of $1,373.34. It also sits 86.8% above its 200-day SMA of $911.29.
However, the 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA of $1,656.17. That setup points to some lingering short-term weakness.
Meanwhile, the moving average convergence divergence indicator is above its signal line, and its histogram remains positive. That suggests selling momentum has eased.
Resistance sits near $1,861. Support is around $1,485, close to the 50-day exponential moving average of $1,496.56.
Sandisk hit a 52-week high and a swing high in June. It then recorded a swing low and broke below support in July. Therefore, the current move looks more like a rebound within a broader consolidation.
Analyst Outlook
The stock carries a Buy consensus rating, with an average price forecast of $2,213.71.
RBC Capital raised its price forecast to $1,600 from a lower level on Aug. 14 and maintained a Sector Perform rating. Wells Fargo raised its price forecast to $1,550 and maintained an Equal-Weight rating. Wedbush maintained an Outperform rating and a $2,000 price forecast.
Benzinga Edge Rankings
Sandisk has a Momentum score of 99.91 in the Benzinga Edge Rankings, signaling strong relative performance. However, its Value score stands at just 10.17.
Together, these factors point to a momentum-driven stock with a relatively weak value profile. That can support gains when market sentiment is strong. However, it can also leave shares vulnerable to sharper pullbacks when investors reduce risk.
