HA Sustainable Infrastructure Capital, Inc. ("HASI") (NYSE:HASI), a leading investor in sustainable infrastructure assets, and Burnham, a developer, owner, and operator of wastewater treatment and reuse infrastructure, today announced the closing of a structured equity investment in the Pasco Resource Recovery Center ("Pasco Center"), a wastewater treatment and reuse facility serving the City of Pasco in Washington State.
Developed, owned, and operated by Burnham, the Pasco Center provides wastewater treatment and reuse services for seven local industrial food-processing plants. The facility uses anaerobic digestion to break down organic matter in wastewater and has the capacity to recycle more than one billion gallons of water annually for agricultural irrigation. In addition to generating reusable water, the Pasco Center also produces renewable natural gas ("RNG") as a saleable byproduct. The facility further supports resource recovery by producing nutrient-rich soil amendments.
As a partnership between Burnham and the City of Pasco, the Pasco Center replaced Pasco’s original Process Water Reuse Facility in 2025, significantly increasing its wastewater processing capacity and reducing its environmental impact. Output from the upgraded facility is used to irrigate 1,900 acres of agricultural fields owned by the City of Pasco.
