Shares of Xos Inc. (NASDAQ:XOS) are surging in pre-market trading Tuesday after the electric fleet and energy solutions company secured its first military award.

Milestone Defense Contract for Mobile Charging

Under the agreement, awarded through the Air Force Global Strike Command Rapid Capabilities Division 2026 Showcase, Xos will develop and deliver a ruggedized, deployable version of its Xos Hub.

The mobile battery energy storage system will supply high-capacity, grid-independent charging for electrified defense support equipment and vehicles in field environments.

The system will be designed in California and built at Xos’s manufacturing facility in Byrdstown, Tennessee, with performance extending into late 2027.

Executive Commentary on Growth Strategy

Chief Executive Officer Dakota Semler hailed the selection as a “strategic inflection point” that proves the dual-use capabilities of their commercial platform. “Defense is a significant new addressable market for the Xos Ecosystem, and it is one where our advantages compound: American design and manufacturing, proven reliability, and deployable power that needs no fixed infrastructure,” Semler stated.

Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer Giordano Sordoni added that the award reflects “disciplined execution” as a non-traditional defense contractor, highlighting the company’s ability to quickly adapt commercial technology to serve critical national security missions.
