Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:INTC) stock is trading lower by almost 5% in Tuesday’s premarket session as investors pull back from technology stocks. Nasdaq futures are down 1.24%, while S&P 500 futures have shed 0.41%.
Intel’s premarket decline appears tied to the broader market selloff rather than a company-specific catalyst. Investors are reducing risk ahead of the opening bell, putting added pressure on higher-beta technology stocks.
The market-driven pullback comes as Intel continues to pour capital into rebuilding its manufacturing capabilities.
Bank of America remains bullish on Intel’s foundry strategy following the company’s roughly $20 billion equity raise. Analyst Vivek Arya recently said the offering signals greater management confidence in internal demand and interest from external foundry customers, despite near-term earnings dilution.
The firm estimates Intel could eventually capture 8% to 10% of a roughly $380 billion wafer foundry market by 2030. It projects Intel Foundry revenue could rise from about $1.1 billion in 2026 to nearly $40 billion by 2030.
Technical Analysis
Intel’s long-term trend remains positive, but its intermediate trend has weakened. The stock is trading 40.2% above its 200-day simple moving average of $70.45. However, it is 9.6% below its 50-day SMA of $109.24.
That combination suggests Intel is consolidating after a strong advance rather than maintaining a clear short-term uptrend.
Intel’s relative strength index stands at 52.50. The neutral reading suggests the stock is neither overbought nor oversold.
The 20-day SMA of $97.15 is below the 50-day SMA, signaling near-term weakness. However, the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA, supporting the longer-term bullish trend.
The stock set a 52-week high in June before reaching a swing low in July.
Key Support: $89.50. Buyers previously stepped in near this level, making it an important area to watch if the pullback deepens.
