U.S. stocks were mixed, with the Dow Jones index gaining over 200 points on Wednesday.

Shares of Estee Lauder Companies Inc (NYSE:EL) rose sharply after the company reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter financial results and issued its FY27 sales guidance with its midpoint above estimates.

Adjusted earnings were 39 cents per share, beating the analyst estimate of 32 cents. The Middle East conflict reduced adjusted earnings by 5 cents per share. However, tariff refunds provided a 7-cent benefit.

Sales rose 6% year over year to $3.63 billion, beating the $3.54 billion analyst estimate. Organic net sales increased 5%.

Estee Lauder shares jumped 17.7% to $99.15 on Wednesday.

  • Merck & Co Inc (NYSE:MRK) rose 11.3% to $150.43 after the company announced topline results from the Phase 3 INTerpath-001 trial. The trial met its primary and key secondary endpoint.
