Marvell Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) stock fell nearly 4% in Monday’s premarket session. Chip stocks moved lower ahead of the company’s earnings report this week. Nasdaq futures fell 0.62%, while S&P 500 futures slipped 0.17%.

Marvell will report its fiscal 2027 second-quarter earnings after the market close on Thursday. Therefore, some traders may be reducing risk before the results.

The stock has posted strong gains over the past year, driven by optimism around artificial intelligence, data centers and custom chips. However, that rally also makes Marvell more sensitive to weaker market sentiment.

However, the short-term picture is mixed. Shares trade 2.3% below the 50-day SMA of $233.85 but 8.6% above the 20-day SMA of $210.42.

Meanwhile, the moving average convergence divergence indicator is above its signal line. The positive histogram suggests bullish momentum is rebuilding.
