The deal provides McKesson with an opportunity to expand its clinical research and commercialization services.

McKesson will acquire Precision Medicine Group for approximately $2.25 billion.

Following completion of the transaction, Precision Medicine Group will report within McKesson’s Oncology & Multispecialty segment, its second-largest segment with first-quarter sales of $14.2 billion.

McKesson ended the first quarter with cash and equivalents of $5.20 billion.

Precision Medicine supports next-generation approaches to drug development and commercialization.

Biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies use Precision Medicine integrated services and technology-enabled products, including biomarker intelligence, lab services, a global clinical research organization, market access consulting and commercialization support.

MCK Technical Outlook: Trend, Momentum And Key Levels

From a longer-term trend view, the stock is still acting like an uptrend: it’s up 28.70% over the past 12 months and is trading above its major moving averages, including the 20-day SMA ($865.80) and 50-day SMA ($822.98).

That “price above the stack” setup typically keeps dip-buyers engaged unless the stock starts losing those nearer-term averages.

The moving-average picture is mixed, though, because the 20-day SMA is above the 50-day SMA (a bullish near-term alignment) while the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA ($840.84), reflecting the death cross that occurred in June.

Momentum is the main watch item right now using MACD: it’s below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which points to upside pressure cooling versus the prior upswing.

For non-technicians, MACD versus its signal line is a quick read on whether momentum is building (above) or fading (below), and this setup argues the stock may need consolidation before it can push to fresh highs.

  • Key Resistance: $907.00 — a nearby round-number zone where rebounds can stall, sitting between the current price and the $999.00 52-week high.
  • Key Support: $744.50 — a prior downside area that lines up as a “line in the sand” if the stock’s next pullback deepens.

Analyst Consensus & Recent Actions: The stock carries a Buy rating with an average price forecast of $986.56. Recent analyst moves include:

  • Barclays: Overweight (Raises Forecast to $1000.00) (August 19)
  • RBC Capital: Initiated with Sector Perform (Price Forecast $845.00) (August 19)
  • Wells Fargo: Equal-Weight (Raises Forecast to $933.00) (August 11)

How McKesson Ranks On Momentum, Value And Growth

Below is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for McKesson, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:

  • Momentum: Moderate (Score: 64.69) — The trend is constructive, but the stock isn’t in “must-chase” momentum territory.
  • Value: Moderate (Score: 38.9) — Valuation looks more middle-of-the-road than deeply discounted versus the broader market.
  • Growth: Moderate (Score: 35.81) — Growth is present, but the score suggests it’s not screening as a top-tier growth name.

The Verdict: McKesson’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a moderately momentum-tilted profile with mid-range value and growth characteristics.

For longer-term investors, that often translates to “trend-follow with discipline,” where entries matter more and pullbacks toward support tend to be the higher-probability opportunities.

MCK Price Action: McKesson shares were up 1.22% at $873.29 at the time of publication on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
