AST SpaceMobile Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTS) depends on third-party rockets. And after Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) or SpaceX, announced structural changes to its launch schedule, investors grew anxious.

SpaceX Shifts Florida Starlink Missions To Starship

In a post on X on Tuesday, SpaceX’s VP of Launch, Kiko Dontchev, confirmed that the launch mission from “pad 40 was the last planned Falcon 9 Starlink launch from Florida.” Dontchev stated that it was “the end of an era” for these missions and confirmed that “Starlink missions out of Florida will fly on Starship.”

Dontchev noted that the West Coast team will “continue regularly launching Starlink from Vandenberg” and stated he was “super proud” of the team that made “Falcon 9 the most reliable launch vehicle in history.” The announcement followed Tuesday’s Falcon 9 launch of 29 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, which marked the final planned Falcon 9 Starlink mission from the East Coast.

Elon Musk Outlines Long-Term Starship Scaling

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk reaffirmed predictions regarding expansion plans for the Starbase site in Louisiana. Musk predicted that roughly 1 million Optimus units and 1 gigawatt of solar power would help create the first Von Neumann probe, designed to replicate itself using distant resources.

From A Longer-Trend Perspective…

ASTS is still trading 9.9% below its 20-day SMA, 12.4% below its 50-day SMA, and more than 20% below both its 100-day and 200-day SMAs—an alignment that usually signals the dominant trend is still down.

The bearish backdrop is reinforced by the death cross that formed in July (the 50-day SMA falling below the 200-day SMA), a classic "trend damage" marker that can take time to repair.

ASTS Stock Price Activity: AST SpaceMobile shares were down 2.66% at $60.36 at the time of publication on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
