Marvell Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) stock rose about 5% in Thursday’s premarket trading as investors embraced growth stocks. Nasdaq futures gained 0.94%, while S&P 500 futures rose 0.34%.

Marvell benefited from broader strength in technology stocks and continued buying interest. The stock remains firmly above its major moving averages. As a result, positive market sentiment may be encouraging traders to add exposure to high-momentum semiconductor stocks.

Technical Analysis

Marvell shares have surged 227.73% over the past 12 months. The premarket price was about 16.5% above the 20-day simple moving average of $219.80. It was also 10.9% above the 50-day SMA of $230.76 and 73.8% above the 200-day SMA of $147.28.

That wide gap points to strong demand. However, it also suggests the stock is extended and could face sharp pullbacks.

The moving average convergence divergence indicator is above its signal line. Its histogram is also positive. Together, those signals suggest selling pressure is fading and bullish momentum is improving.

Still, the 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA. That is a bearish short-term signal. In contrast, the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA following a golden cross in October 2025. Therefore, the long-term uptrend remains intact despite some short-term weakness.

Resistance sits near $300, where the rally could lose momentum. Initial support is around $244, which could serve as the first key test during a pullback.

Analyst Outlook

Marvell stock trades at 84.2 times earnings. That premium valuation could make the stock more sensitive to weaker growth or disappointing guidance.

The stock has a Buy consensus rating and an average price forecast of $287.13.

Susquehanna maintained a Positive rating and raised its price forecast to $265 on Aug. 25. Rosenblatt maintained a Buy rating and lifted its forecast to $300 the same day. Morgan Stanley kept an Equal-Weight rating and raised its forecast to $224 on Aug. 24.

Benzinga Edge Rankings

The Benzinga Edge scorecard highlights Marvell’s strong growth and momentum. The stock has a Momentum score of 98.88 and a Growth score of 99.81.

However, its Value score is just 1.2. That suggests investors have already priced in significant future growth.

Overall, Marvell has the profile of a high-flying growth stock. Its strong trend could continue, but the premium valuation may increase downside risk if market sentiment weakens.

Top ETF Exposure

Marvell has a 6.92% weighting in the First Trust Nasdaq Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:FTXL). It also represents 5.69% of the State Street SPDR NYSE Technology ETF (NYSE:XNTK) and 4.53% of the Invesco PHLX Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:SOXQ).

Because Marvell holds sizable weightings in these funds, ETF inflows and outflows can contribute to buying or selling pressure in the stock.
