Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) stock was little changed in Monday premarket trading as the chipmaker announced it was expanding its AI infrastructure footprint in Saudi Arabia.
AMD shares are also trading below their June peak, keeping attention on whether the stock can hold near current levels.
AMD AI Infrastructure Goes Live In Saudi Arabia
AMD, Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) and HUMAIN brought a new AI platform into production in Saudi Arabia using AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs and AMD EPYC CPUs.
Cisco supplies the networking infrastructure, including its Silicon One technology, N9000 Series platform and 800G optics.
The deployment allows HUMAIN to offer GPU-as-a-service for workloads ranging from AI model training to inference.
AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su said the launch marks an important milestone in the company’s work with HUMAIN and establishes an open, high-performance platform designed to expand over time.
Partners Plan Up To 250 MW From 2027
AMD, Cisco and HUMAIN plan to deploy up to 250 MW of additional AI infrastructure powered by AMD Instinct MI400 Series GPUs, EPYC CPUs and ROCm open software alongside Cisco networking technology.
The companies plan to begin deployment in 2027, with capacity expected to start coming online in the second half of the year.
The expansion forms part of their previously announced joint venture, which remains on track to deploy up to 1 GW of AI infrastructure by 2030.
Sovereign AI Demand Drives Expansion
HUMAIN CEO Tareq Amin said demand for sovereign, high-performance AI infrastructure continues to grow.
Cisco Chair and CEO Chuck Robbins said the region is moving from AI investment toward deployment.
The partners are building the platform around open models, software and locally operated infrastructure, giving customers greater control over data location, model customization and AI deployment.
