Investor Ross Gerber, the co-founder of investment firm Gerber Kawasaki Wealth Management, says Tesla Inc.‘s (NASDAQ:TSLA) Robotaxi network will grow, but warns it may not come soon enough.
We’ll Be Old By the Time Robotaxi Scales, Ross Gerber Says
In a post on the social media platform X on Monday, Gerber quoted a post by influencer Sawyer Merritt, who shared an updated map of Tesla’s Robotaxi coverage in various cities in the U.S. “3.5 mil square miles in the USA,” he said. “Tesla robo cabs now serve about 400 square miles,” Gerber added.
The investor then said that the service would “only grow from here” and that it was the “good news” about the expansion. However, the investor then pointed to some challenges. “Bad news is we’re all getting older waiting for this to happen… much older,” Gerber said.
Tesla is set to hold the launch event for the company’s Cybercab in Austin, Texas, on Thursday this week. The Cybercab, which has no steering wheel or pedals and can seat two passengers, has been touted by the company’s management as a platform that could also form a basis for future vehicles.
Gary Black’s Robotaxi Skepticism
Earlier, investor Gary Black of The Future Fund LLC expressed skepticism about Tesla’s Robotaxi pursuits, questioning if bullish supporters of the brand knew how Wall Street investors value the company’s autonomous vehicle business. Black said that Tesla will achieve unsupervised autonomy, but so will its competitors.
Tesla also recently secured a 500-unit order from Swedish autonomous truck operator Einride AB (NASDAQ:ENRD) for its Semi Truck, with company CEO Roozbeh Charli confirming that the EV giant will deliver 75 units before the end of the year.
Price Action: TSLA shares slipped 0.92% to $364.57 during pre-market trading on Tuesday.
