Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) stock fell more than 1% in Tuesday’s premarket trading as investors pulled back from large-cap technology stocks. Nasdaq futures dropped 1.02%, while S&P 500 futures fell 0.59%.
The broader risk-off mood appeared to weigh on Broadcom as traders prepared for a weaker market open. However, company-specific catalysts could soon take center stage.
Broadcom is scheduled to report earnings Wednesday. As a result, trading could remain volatile as investors adjust their positions ahead of the report.
Meanwhile, Broadcom used VMware Explore 2026 to expand its enterprise AI portfolio. The company introduced products designed to speed up AI deployment, control costs, protect sensitive data and govern autonomous AI agents.
Broadcom Brings Leading AI Models to VMware Private Cloud
Broadcom introduced VMware Private AI Cloud, which allows companies to build and run AI applications alongside existing business software while keeping more data within their own infrastructure.
The company said enterprises can choose from different processors, servers and AI models rather than relying on a single supplier. Customers can run more than 150 open-source and commercial AI models, including offerings from Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google, NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA), NEC, Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA) Alibaba Cloud and Z.ai.
Broadcom also launched VMware AI Factory, which automates much of the work required to prepare computing infrastructure for AI. Broadcom said the product can reduce the time needed to move from newly installed servers to running an AI model from weeks to hours.
The platform also lets companies share expensive computing resources across different teams, helping reduce duplicated spending.
AgentMinder Targets Autonomous AI Risks
Broadcom unveiled AgentMinder to help companies control AI agents that can independently access data, use software tools and complete business tasks.
AgentMinder checks what an AI agent is authorized to do before allowing it to act and records its activity for oversight. Broadcom said this approach can help businesses deploy AI agents in areas such as finance, human resources and IT without allowing them unrestricted access.
Broadcom is combining AgentMinder with VMware vDefend and Avi Load Balancer to identify unauthorized AI activity, restrict access to sensitive information and detect unusual behavior.
Broadcom Expands AI Software And Data Tools
Broadcom also upgraded the VMware Tanzu Platform to help companies give AI agents access only to approved business data while tracking where that information came from.
Separately, Broadcom introduced TrueSource Trusted Artifacts, which provides tested and supported open-source software and security fixes.
Together, the VMware Explore announcements broaden Broadcom’s role from supplying private-cloud infrastructure to providing companies with the software, security, AI models and governance tools needed to operate AI at scale.
Technical Analysis
Broadcom remains under pressure in the short term. The stock trades 6.3% below its 20-day simple moving average, 5.1% below its 50-day SMA and 8.3% below its 100-day SMA.
However, it is only 1.1% below its 200-day SMA. That level could serve as a key test for the stock’s longer-term trend.
Momentum also remains weak. The moving average convergence divergence indicator is below its signal line, while the histogram is negative. These signals suggest buyers are losing control.
Still, the broader trend has some positive signs. Broadcom formed a golden cross in April when its 50-day SMA moved above its 200-day SMA. However, the stock has retreated from its June 52-week high of $495.
Key resistance stands at $407.50. Key support is near $358.

The stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 61.6, reflecting a premium valuation.

RBC Capital maintained a Sector Perform rating and a $400 price forecast on Aug. 26. BMO Capital initiated coverage with an Outperform rating and a $455 price forecast on Aug. 21. Erste Group downgraded the stock to Hold on July 7.
Benzinga Edge Rankings
Broadcom has a momentum score of 52.3 out of 100, reflecting mixed price action.
Its quality score is a strong 95.08. However, its value score is only 5.95, suggesting the stock’s premium valuation leaves little room for disappointment. Its growth score stands at 31.41.
Overall, Broadcom has a high-quality business but weak value and mixed momentum. Wednesday’s earnings report could determine whether the company’s growth outlook supports its premium valuation.
