Visa Inc. (NYSE:V) stock was little changed in Thursday’s premarket session as investors favored defensive, large-cap stocks ahead of the open. Nasdaq futures fell 0.26%, while S&P 500 futures slipped 0.02%.
Visa Launches Enhanced A2A Protect
Separately, Visa announced Tuesday an enhanced version of A2A Protect, its fraud detection solution designed to help financial institutions stop account-to-account payment fraud before funds leave customer accounts.
“Fraudsters move fast across payment types, and financial institutions need risk insights just as quickly, without slowing down legitimate payments,” said James Mirfin, Head of Risk and Security Solutions at Visa.
Visa facilitates payments among consumers, merchants, financial institutions and governments in more than 200 countries and territories.
Technical Analysis
Traders are watching the chart. Visa is trading just below its recent highs. That could keep both buyers and profit-takers active at the open.
Visa remains above its key moving averages. That keeps the longer-term trend bullish.
The stock is above its 20-day SMA at $370.68, 50-day SMA at $361.37, 100-day SMA at $341.63 and 200-day SMA at $333.58.
This setup shows that buyers have controlled the trend in recent months. It also gives traders several support levels to watch during a pullback.
Momentum is less convincing. The MACD is below its signal line, while the histogram is negative. This suggests the recent rally is losing some strength.
In simple terms, Visa may need a fresh burst of buying to regain strong upside momentum.
The longer-term trend remains positive. A golden cross formed in July, with the 50-day SMA moving above the 200-day SMA.
Visa’s recent swing high and 52-week high both came in August. A break above that area could give the stock another boost.
- Key Resistance: $385.57, the 52-week high from August
- Key Support: $370.68, the 20-day SMA
