Arm Holdings plc (NASDAQ:ARM) stock rose Tuesday as semiconductor stocks outperformed parts of the broader market. The Nasdaq gained less than 0.5%, while the S&P 500 fell 0.16%.

Arm’s gain comes as the stock tries to stabilize after recent volatility. With no clear company-specific catalyst driving the move, traders are watching technical levels for signs that buyers are returning.

Technical Analysis

Arm was trading above its 20-day simple moving average of $253.04. However, it remained below its 50-day SMA of $272.13 and 100-day SMA of $278.71. That setup points to continued weakness in the intermediate trend.

Still, the longer-term trend remains stronger. Arm trades well above its 200-day SMA of $202.40.

The relative strength index stands at 52.13. That is a neutral reading and suggests neither buyers nor sellers have a clear momentum advantage.

The moving-average picture is also mixed. The 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA. However, the 50-day average remains above the 200-day average following an April golden cross.

Resistance sits near $267.50, followed by the 50-day SMA. Support is around $243.

Analyst Outlook

Arm carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $319. Recent analyst moves include:

  • Morgan Stanley: Equal-Weight (Raises forecast to $212.00) (July 30)
  • Rosenblatt: Buy (Lowers forecast to $250.00) (July 31)
  • UBS: Buy (Lowers forecast to $320.00) (July 30)

The stock also carries a premium valuation, with a price-to-earnings ratio of about 257.

Top ETF Exposure

Arm is also a significant holding in several exchange-traded funds. That gives investors another way to gain exposure to the chip designer.

The First Trust International Equity Opportunities ETF (NASDAQ:FPXI) had a 4.19% weighting in Arm as of Sept. 4. The VanEck Fabless Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:SMHX) had a 3.85% weighting as of Sept. 3.

Arm’s meaningful weight in these funds means ETF inflows and outflows can contribute to buying or selling pressure in the stock.

Benzinga Edge

Arm scores 95 out of 100 for momentum on Benzinga Edge. However, its value score is just 1.79, highlighting its expensive valuation.

That combination points to strong price momentum but also leaves the stock more exposed if growth expectations weaken.
