Stephen Weiss, chief investment officer and managing partner of Short Hills Capital Partners, named Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) as his final trade.

Lending support to his choice, Wells Fargo, on July 14, reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter results. The bank reported adjusted earnings of $1.96 per share, beating the Wall Street consensus estimate of $1.72. Revenue rose 8.6% year over year to $22.62 billion, topping analysts’ expectations of $21.82 billion.

Joseph M. Terranova, senior managing director for Virtus Investment Partners, picked Nutrien Ltd. (NYSE:NTR).

On the earnings front, Nutrien, on Aug. 5, reported quarterly earnings of $2.61 per share which missed the analyst consensus estimate of $2.72 per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $10.812 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $10.323 billion.

Kari Firestone, co-founder of Aureus Asset Management, recommended Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE:TMO).

Supporting her view, CLSA analyst Michael Luo, on Sept. 3, initiated coverage on Thermo Fisher Scientific with an Outperform rating and announced a price target of $748.
