The order supports continued production of highly complex optical assemblies developed jointly with the customer and manufactured by Precision Optics since 2018.
Precision Optics believes the program has the potential to remain in production for at least the next ten years. The Company and its customer expect to negotiate a long-term manufacturing agreement in the coming months with provisions for a structured order framework designed to reduce order gaps and support a more continuous manufacturing cadence. The agreement is expected to benefit both parties by preserving manufacturing continuity and knowledge base, improving planning and throughput, and generating greater cost efficiencies.
"This $1.3 million order represents the next phase of an established program," said Joseph Forkey, CEO of Precision Optics. "The intention of our customer to work toward an ongoing order structure reflects confirmation that the component we provide is a critical element of their long-term strategic planning and that POC is a valued supplier. It also provides a strong base of continuous business for our micro-optics group, serving as a platform to pursue additional opportunities in the defense and aerospace market."
Precision Optics provides advanced micro-optical components and assemblies for a range of defense and aerospace applications, including applications in which size, weight, reliability and performance are critical to mission success. The Company’s vertically integrated, U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities allow it to work with customers from initial product design and engineering through qualification and recurring production.
