Why Is GSK Stock Gaining Monday?

On Monday, GSK plc (NYSE:GSK) stock is trading higher on highly positive clinical data from two separate lung cancer trials, demonstrating significant efficacy and survival benefits across different patient populations.

Strong Survival Rates In Small Cell Lung Cancer

In partnership with licensor Hansoh Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., the company released overall survival data from the Phase 3 ARTEMIS-008 trial in China.

The study evaluated risvutatug rezetecan (Ris-Rez) against topotecan in patients battling relapsed small cell lung cancer that progressed following platinum-based therapy.

These results mark the first Phase 3 data showing an overall survival benefit for a B7-H3 targeted antibody-drug conjugate in any tumor type. Ris-Rez reduced the mortality risk by 54% compared to topotecan.

Patients receiving Ris-Rez lived a median of 18.5 months, significantly outperforming the 10.3 months observed in the topotecan cohort.

Furthermore, the therapy yielded a 58.3% objective response rate and a 90.4% disease control rate.

Patients also experienced fewer severe treatment-related side effects, with grade 3 or higher events occurring in 60.9% of the Ris-Rez group versus 78.2% for topotecan.

Jideytro Excels In Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

GSK also revealed positive phase 1/2 ARROS-1 registrational trial results for Jideytro (zidesamtinib) in treating advanced or metastatic ROS1-positive non-small cell lung cancer.

The company plans to submit a supplemental New Drug Application to the U.S. FDA this year for first-line treatment approval.

Testing 94 patients with no prior tyrosine kinase inhibitor treatment, Jideytro achieved a 94% objective response rate and a 15% complete response rate.

All patients with measurable brain metastases responded to the treatment, and 70% saw complete clearance of their brain tumors. Researchers noted a 90% progression-free survival rate at 12 months, highlighting the drug’s durable efficacy.

GSK Price Action: GSK shares were up 4.07% to $50.10 at the time of publication on Monday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
