GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) shares rose Tuesday after the company secured a new wind-turbine order in Japan.
The gain came as S&P 500 futures were roughly flat, despite GLJ Research initiating coverage Monday with a Sell rating and a $470 price target well below GEV’s recent trading level.
GE Vernova Secures 29.4 MW Japan Order
GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind business signed an agreement with Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation to supply seven 4.2 MW-117m turbines for the 29.4-megawatt Eurus Hiyamizutouge Wind Farm in Aomori Prefecture.
The agreement includes a two-year service contract with an option for a two-year extension.
GE Vernova designed its 4 MW platform for Japan’s wind conditions, and the turbines have accumulated more than 2 million operating hours.
Japan Wind Presence Expands
The project supports Japan’s target of generating 36%-38% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
GE Vernova secured 339 MW of orders in Japan during 2025.
Its technology accounts for about 25% of Japan’s installed onshore wind capacity and 50% of heavy-duty gas turbine capacity.
The company has more than 59,000 wind turbines operating globally and follows a standardized “workhorse” strategy focused on repeatable execution and long-term reliability.
Separately, GE Vernova and SPIC Brasil completed the modernization of the third generating unit at the 1,710 MW São Simão Hydroelectric Plant in 10.3 months, below the 12-month regulatory limit.
GE Vernova leads the consortium overseeing the broader modernization program, which carries more than R$1.2 billion in investment and targets completion of all six units by 2029.
What’s Next
GE Vernova’s next earnings report is estimated for Oct. 21, 2026.
Analysts expect EPS of $4.16, up from $1.64 a year earlier, on revenue of $12.02 billion, up from $9.97 billion previously.
The stock trades at a P/E multiple of 25.1x.
GEV carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price target of $1,187.83.
GLJ Research’s newly initiated Sell rating stands out against that broader bullish consensus. Its $470 target implies a substantially more bearish valuation view than GEV’s recent market price and contrasts sharply with Bernstein’s $1,298 target.
Recent analyst actions include:
- Bernstein: Outperform, $1,298 target, Sept. 15
- GLJ Research: Sell, $470 target, initiated Sept. 14
- Mizuho: Neutral, $949 target, raised July 27
GEV Stock Price Activity: GE Vernova shares were up 0.86% at $882.14 at the time of publication on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
