BitMine Immersion Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:BMNR) has accumulated enough Ethereum (CRYPTO:$ETH) to own nearly 1 in every 20 ETH in existence. The company now holds 5.96 million ETH as of Sept. 13. That’s 4.9% of Ethereum’s 122 million-token supply, putting Tom Lee’s most ambitious crypto accumulation target within striking distance.

The next milestone is no longer theoretical: It is 5%.

BMNR Nears 5% Goal

BitMine’s ETH is worth roughly $15 billion at the company’s reported ETH price of $2,513. The holdings represent 4.9% of the total supply, and BitMine says it is 98% of the way toward its "Alchemy of 5%" goal.

At 5% of a 122 million ETH supply, the target would be about 6.1 million ETH. That leaves BitMine roughly 144,000 ETH short of the milestone based on the company’s latest figures.

That gap is small relative to the scale of the accumulation already completed. BitMine has gone from building an Ethereum treasury to potentially controlling a 5% stake in the network’s entire supply — a distinction that increasingly defines the investment case around BitMine.

More Than an ETH Treasury

BitMine said 5,067,309 ETH was already staked as of Sept. 13, representing more than 85% of its Ethereum holdings. At the reported ETH price, that staked position was valued at about $12.7 billion.

BitMine’s broader crypto, cash, marketable securities and "moonshot" holdings totaled $15.8 billion, including $549 million of cash and marketable securities, 212 BTC and stakes in Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings.

That structure gives BitMine exposure not only to ETH’s price, but also to staking economics and the company’s ability to keep expanding its Ethereum position.

The 5% Test Matters

The 5% threshold is BitMine’s strategic objective, not an arbitrary market benchmark. The company has repeatedly framed the goal as accumulating 5% of Ethereum’s total supply, with Lee serving as chairman.

Reaching 5% would therefore mark a shift from an accumulation story to an execution milestone. Investors would then have a different question to answer: What does BitMine do with an Ethereum position that represents one-twentieth of the entire network?

The closer BitMine gets to 6.1 million ETH, the less the story is about whether the company can build a massive Ethereum treasury — and the more it becomes about what that treasury can generate.

BitMine is now only about 144,000 ETH away from the 5% target that sits at the center of Lee’s strategy. The milestone is close enough that the next accumulation updates could matter as much for the stock’s narrative as changes in ETH itself.

The key catalyst is no longer simply another ETH purchase; it is whether BitMine can cross the 5% line.
