Vicor Corp. (NASDAQ:VICR) stock jumped about 15% Thursday after the company announced a new licensing agreement tied to its Vertical Power Delivery technology.

The gain came during a broader risk-on session. The Nasdaq rose 1.58%, while the S&P 500 gained 1.04%.

AI Power Technology

Vicor granted a non-exclusive license to a new, unnamed OEM for its patented Vertical Power Delivery technology, which helps power high-performance AI and networking processors.

The license allows the OEM to buy VPD modules covered by Vicor patents from unlicensed suppliers. Vicor said the technology addresses the “last inch” challenge of efficiently delivering high-density power to advanced processors.

Vicor said its licensing model gives OEMs and hyperscalers more sourcing flexibility, supply chain redundancy and scalability. Licensees can source products globally or use VPD modules manufactured at Vicor’s U.S. facilities.

The company also said early adopters may qualify for lower royalty rates.

The licensing announcement provided a company-specific catalyst for Thursday’s rally. Broader market strength also supported the move.

Market breadth remained positive, with an advance-decline ratio of 2.7. Technology stocks led the market, while industrial stocks also moved higher.

Vicor has gained more than 300% over the past 12 months, keeping the power technology company on traders’ radar.

Technical Analysis

Thursday’s rally pushed Vicor back above several important trend levels.

The stock is trading 11.2% above its 20-day simple moving average and 2.6% above its 200-day SMA. However, it remains 17.1% below its 100-day SMA and sits just below its 50-day SMA.

That setup points to strong short-term momentum, although the intermediate trend remains mixed.

MACD is above its signal line, while the histogram is positive. Both indicators suggest upside momentum is improving.

Traders are watching resistance near $232.50. Support sits around $178.50.
