- RBC Capital: Sector Perform (Lowers Target to $4.00) (Sept. 17)

On Wednesday, the company reduced its fiscal 2026 sales outlook to $2.400 billion from its previous range of $2.900 billion to $3.100 billion. This puts the updated forecast below the $3.347 billion analyst estimate.
Fluence Energy now expects adjusted EBITDA loss of around $200.0 million higher than the prior guidance midpoint of a loss of about $10.0 million for the fiscal year.
Delay In Facility Ramp-Up
CEO Julian Nebreda said delays in ramping up its contract manufacturing facility in Houston have persisted and are the main reason behind the company’s decision to lower its fiscal 2026 financial guidance.
Fluence is also restructuring its operations and simplifying planning across supply chain, manufacturing and delivery activities to improve execution in fiscal 2027. Meanwhile, its contract manufacturing partner has taken corrective measures that have already increased daily production levels.
Nebreda added that demand for the company’s products remains strong in both domestic and international markets, while its international supply chain continues to perform effectively.
CFO Ahmed Pasha said the company aims to achieve neutral to positive operating cash flow and support its backlog without relying on external capital. The company plans to provide a detailed fiscal 2027 business plan and financial update when it reports its fiscal 2026 results.
Second Time Outlook Cut This Year
Notably, the company had earlier cut the guidance during the third quarter results in August 2026.
At that time, Fluence lowered its revenue outlook to $2.9 billion-$3.1 billion (vs. consensus of $3.35 billion) from its prior forecast of $3.2 billion-$3.6 billion for fiscal 2026.
The company reported a third-quarter adjusted loss of 24 cents per share, compared with analysts’ expectations for a loss of 2 cents per share. Revenue from continuing operations totaled $600.2 million, missing the consensus estimate of $848.2 million.
What Fluence Energy (FLNC) Does In Grid Storage and Software
Fluence Energy Inc provides intelligent energy storage and optimization software for renewables and storage, spanning both hardware solutions and software-driven services. Its platform is designed to help make the grid more resilient and to improve how renewable portfolios are managed and monetized.
The company also sells recurring operational and maintenance services plus SaaS products, with service plans that can include training, maintenance, warranties, and active system management. With most revenue coming from the Americas (alongside APAC and EMEA), changes to full-year guidance can quickly reshape expectations for project timing, margins, and service attach rates—so the market tends to react fast when outlook is revised.
