U.S. stocks traded mixed toward the end of trading, with the Nasdaq Composite gaining over1200 points on Tuesday.
The Dow traded down 0.31% to 51,889.27 while the NASDAQ climbed 0.51% to 27,259.09. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.10% to 7,772.79.
Leading and Lagging Sectors
Communication services shares jumped by 1.2% on Tuesday.
In trading on Tuesday, financial stocks fell by 2%.
Top Headline
Shares of Thor Industries (NYSE:THO) gained around 5% on Tuesday after the company reported results for the fourth quarter.
The company posted quarterly earnings of 78 cents per share which missed the analyst consensus estimate of 96 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $2.312 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $2.168 billion.
Equities Trading UP
- Viking Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:VKTX) shares shot up 26% to $37.88 after the company announced top-line results from the maintenance study of VK2735.
- Shares of Decoy Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:DCOY) got a boost, surging 144% to $6.24 after the company announced a refined corporate strategy to explore its D-MAVs for additional candidates.
- Quanome Technologies, Inc (NASDAQ:QNME) shares were also up, gaining 72% to $1.10 after the company announced it entered into a Purchase and Sale Agreement and related purchase order with Compal Electronics for the purchase of 32 GPU server units.
Equities Trading DOWN
- Celldex Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:CLDX) shares dropped 15% to $32.18. The company reported topline results from the Phase 3 EMBARQ-CSU1 and EMBARQ-CSU2 trials evaluating two doses of barzolvolimab in patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria whose symptoms are inadequately controlled by H1-antihistamines.
- Shares of Compass Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:CMPX) were down 25% to $1.36 after the company announced that the FDA recommended it conduct a trial demonstrating a survival benefit before proceeding with a Biologics License Application submission for tovecimig in patients with previously treated, advanced biliary tract cancer.
- Xanadu Quantum Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ:XNDU) was down, falling 17% to $6.08.
Commodities
In commodity news, oil traded down 1.4% to $94.45 while gold traded down 0.3% at $4,369.80.
Silver traded down 0.1% to $66.345 on Tuesday, while copper rose 1.4% to $6.8595.
Euro zone
European shares were higher today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 climbed 0.4%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.7%, London’s FTSE 100 slipped 0.1%, Germany’s DAX gained 0.2%, while France’s CAC 40 surged 0.4%.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mixed on Tuesday, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rising 0.18%, China’s Shanghai Composite rising 0.06% and India’s BSE Sensex falling 0.44%.
Economics
- U.S. Redbook Index rose by 7.6% year-over-year in the week ending Sept. 19.
- The Federal Reserve’s Fifth District manufacturing index declined to -2 in September, compared to 4 in the previous month and versus market estimates of 5.
