The trading activity of members of Congress draws increased attention from retail investors in recent years. When a member hasn’t bought a stock since 2024, the list of names they’re selling likely warrants increased focus.

Rep. Pete Sessions Keeps Selling Stock
Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) recently disclosed the sale of two stocks, as tracked by the Benzinga Government Trades page.
The sales were:
Sept. 14: Sold $15,000 to $50,000 Alphabet Class A (NASDAQ:GOOGL) shares
Sept. 14: Sold $15,000 to $50,000 AbbVie (NYSE:ABBV) shares
The transactions follow a pattern of recent sales by Sessions. The congressman sold shares of Verizon and Ares Capital Corporation back in July. Those mark the only other transactions by Sessions in 2026.
Sessions bought several corporate bonds in 2025, but otherwise it has been all selling activity in recent years.
The last stock bought by Sessions was Microsoft, with a $1,000 to $15,000 purchase in December 2024.
Sessions Stock Trading History
Sessions has made over 450 trades totaling $11.5 million since 2013, according to data from Quiver Quantitative.
The biggest year for the congressman’s trading activity was 2023, with $3.2 million in trades.
In 2024, trades totaled $436,000, while 2025 saw $323,000 in trades. The past several years have all seen more sales than buys by dollar volume, outside of the corporate bonds purchased.
The sales could be done for a number of reasons, including tax purposes or in case legislation to ban members of Congress from trading passes. Either way, Benzinga will continue to monitor Congress trades that stand out.
