Commercial Infrastructure and Management Commentary
The strategic integration marks a major operational deployment as SoFi Bank transitions its entire $25 billion annualized card program onto blockchain-based settlement. Announced on Tuesday, the arrangement makes the platform the first nationally chartered bank to execute live stablecoin clearing on Mastercard’s global infrastructure.
Highlighting the transition for enterprise clients, Chief Executive Officer Anthony Noto stated that in six months, the companies took stablecoin settlement from an idea to a live product that materially improves how money moves for businesses.
Noto further noted that merchants do not need to hold stablecoins or alter existing payment hardware, as businesses can receive settlement funds instantly in a SoFi Bank account and convert them to cash around the clock at zero cost.
Extending this digital settlement architecture to third-party institutions via its Galileo technology division creates an additional high-margin fee revenue channel as the firm engages major U.S. retailers.
