Armata Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AMEX:ARMP) shares are trading lower on Wednesday as traders digest additional non-dilutive funding tied to its lead bacteriophage program.
Armata Pharmaceuticals Gets Additional Non-Dilutive DoD Funding
Armata said it received $3.7 million in additional non-dilutive funding from the U.S. Department of Defense to support Phase 3-focused work advancing AP-SA02 in complicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia.
The funding follows the $28.7 million previously provided, bringing cumulative non-dilutive DoD funding under the award to approximately $32.4 million and underscoring the U.S. government’s continued interest in advancing the AP-SA02 program.
ARMP Technical Analysis: Downtrend and Key Support Levels
Technically, the stock is still in a longer-term downtrend: it’s trading 21.2% below the 20-day SMA ($5.03), 18.4% below the 50-day SMA ($4.85), 35.1% below the 100-day SMA ($6.10), and 46.4% below the 200-day SMA ($7.39).
That distance from the longer moving averages keeps rallies vulnerable to supply, even when headlines are constructive.
Momentum also leans heavy right now: MACD is below its signal line and the histogram is negative, which points to fading upside pressure versus the prior upswing.
In plain terms, MACD compares faster and slower trend signals — when it’s below the signal line, buyers typically need a fresh push to regain control.
The moving-average structure is mixed, with the 20-day SMA still above the 50-day SMA (a near-term bullish tilt), but the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA after the Death Cross in July, which is a longer-term bearish backdrop.
From a level perspective, traders often watch whether price can reclaim the 20-day/50-day area to stabilize, or whether weakness drags it back toward the lower end of the recent range.
- Key Resistance: $4.74 — Aligns with the 20-day EMA, a common "first reclaim" level after a sell-off.
- Key Support: $2.94 — 52-week low zone that marks the downside extreme of the past year.

- Momentum: Weak (Score: 9.15) — The stock’s trend profile remains pressured versus the broader market, lining up with its position well below key long-term moving averages.
The Verdict: Armata Pharmaceuticals’ Benzinga Edge signal reveals a momentum-challenged setup, with the scorecard dominated by a weak Momentum reading.
For longer-term traders, the chart suggests waiting for a clearer base and reclaim of near-term moving averages before treating dips as anything more than tactical trades.
