The filing, which appears under U.S. patent number 12,741,514 with the title "Vehicle cargo space access providing method,” could point to one of the Ford Fathom’s planned offerings, the report said.
Rather than a typical small front trunk, the images show a front compartment designed to open more like a tailgate, creating a broad platform at the nose of the truck. The sketches also depict a hinged section that folds outward, adding another flat surface that could be used as a table-like area.
The patent also outlines a concept where the hood can be shut while the fold-down section remains deployed, creating two tiers of usable space.
