Granite (NYSE:GVA) announced today that the Granite-Super Joint Venture has been awarded a contract by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) for the Big Creek Tunnel (BCT) project in Cleveland, Ohio. The contract, a joint venture between Granite and Super Excavators, is valued at approximately $324.8 million and will be included in third quarter CAP.
The BCT is part of Project Clean Lake, a $3 billion, 24-year program that NEORSD began in 2011 to improve water quality in the region. It is the last of seven large-diameter combined sewer overflow storage tunnels constructed under the program. Granite’s scope of work includes construction of 22,300 linear feet of 20-foot-diameter tunnel and 3,115 linear feet of ancillary tunnels, including adits, an overflow tunnel, a connecting tunnel, and a dewatering tunnel. Major structures include multiple shafts, diversion structures, gate and screening structures, gate control vaults, consolidation sewers, and an overflow box culvert, along with associated sitework, restoration, and utilities. When complete, this project will eliminate 550 million gallons of combined sewer releases annually.
