Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has reportedly partnered with LG Electronics to target companies like Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Alphabet Inc.’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google with a new lineup of connected home devices.

Apple And LG Expand Smart Home Ambitions

The Cupertino, California-based tech giant and LG are working on several products, including a doorbell, deadbolt lock, thermostat, indoor camera, outdoor camera, and floodlight camera, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

All these products are designed to work with Apple’s upcoming smart home ecosystem, the report noted, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

Apple did not immediately respond to Benzinga’s request for comment.

The devices will likely connect with Apple’s new smart home hub, which could debut on Oct. 13. The hub reportedly features a 6-inch square display.

According to the report, the new devices may carry LG branding, even though Apple is developing them in partnership with LG.

Apple Takes on Amazon and Google

The development comes as Apple plans to compete directly with Amazon’s Ring security lineup and Google’s Nest products, which already include doorbells, cameras, thermostats and other connected-home devices.

Price Action: On Tuesday, Apple closed at $333.63, up 0.22%. In after-hours trading, shares were up 0.11% to $333.99, according to Benzinga Pro.

According to Benzinga Edge Stock Rankings, Apple ranks in the 97th percentile for Quality, while its short-, medium- and long-term price trends remain positive.
