Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (NYSE:HPE) is gaining momentum as it expands deeper into enterprise AI infrastructure with new server systems built for agentic AI, inference and other data-intensive workloads.
The stock moved higher by about 3% on Wednesday, tracking a rally in storage and server stocks led by SanDisk (NASDAQ:SNDK), which rose 3.51%, and pushing HPE to a new all-time (record) high. U.S. stocks were lower at midday as U.S. stocks slipped and small caps lagged.
The move stood out against a weaker market backdrop, with the Nasdaq down 0.34% and the Russell 2000 falling 1.28%.
HPE stock gained over 200% in 2026, driven by enterprise demand for AI infrastructure and data center hardware.
HPE Expands AI Server Portfolio
HPE launched its first four ProLiant Gen13 servers powered by 6th Gen Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) EPYC processors.
The company designed the new systems for agentic AI and inference, as well as analytics, virtualization, simulation and modeling workloads.
The rollout expands HPE’s AI hardware portfolio as the company targets growing enterprise demand for data center infrastructure.
HPE also highlighted security and operational upgrades tied to HPE iLO 8 and HPE Compute Ops Management.
The new features include post-quantum readiness and tools designed to reduce operational complexity as customers scale AI workloads.
Company-Specific Momentum Drives Shares
HPE’s rally came during a broadly defensive session, with only three sectors advancing.
Technology ranked mid-pack among the 11 sectors while declining about 0.56%, making HPE’s gains stand out from the broader group.
The stock’s strength suggests investors are responding to the company’s latest product launches and expanding AI infrastructure opportunity rather than following a sectorwide rally.
Analysts Turn More Positive
HPE carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $72.17.
Daiwa Capital upgraded the stock to Outperform on Oct. 2 and raised its price forecast to $75.
Citigroup maintained a Buy rating and lifted its forecast to $92 on Oct. 1, while Morgan Stanley maintained an Overweight rating and raised its forecast to $72 the same day.
The recent analyst actions reinforce expectations that HPE could benefit as enterprises increase spending on AI-capable servers and data center infrastructure.
ETF Exposure Adds Trading Sensitivity
HPE carries a 5.81% weight in the Adaptiv Select ETF, a 2.66% position in Bancroft Fund Ltd. and an 8.72% weight in the Trenchless Fund ETF.
Those sizable allocations mean significant inflows or outflows from the funds can translate into corresponding buying or selling pressure on HPE shares.
HPE Price Action: Hewlett Packard shares were up 2.92% at $72.54 at the time of publication on Wednesday. The stock is trading at a new 52-week high, according to Benzinga Pro data.
