Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) CEO Elon Musk has hailed Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos‘ commitment to develop launch and space infrastructure with SpaceX rival Blue Origin following its latest funding round.
Elon Musk Says ‘Bravo!’ Jeff Bezos
On Wednesday, Musk responded to a video posted by user RedWave Press on X that featured a clip from Bezos’ interview with Fox News following Blue Origin’s funding round. Bezos confirmed that he had invested $28 billion of his own money into the company for 25 years.
Bezos also hinted that the company could potentially be gearing up for an IPO after the latest funding round also saw outside investors participating. “Bravo! I’m glad @JeffBezos cares so much about space,” Musk said in his response to RedWave Press on X.
SpaceX vs Blue Origin
SpaceX has been a leader in the launch and space-based infrastructure sector, with the company conducting multiple launches of its Falcon 9 rocket and establishing a constellation of more than 11,000 satellites to provide internet connectivity with Starlink.
SpaceX also recently conducted the 14th flight test of the Starship rocket, which is the company’s most powerful spacecraft. The launch also saw Starship conduct its first orbital flight. The mission did not include a tower catch of the Super Heavy booster, with SpaceX instead conducting an offshore return test.
On the other hand, Blue Origin recently won contracts from NASA tied to Mars exploration as well. Blue Origin was also gearing up to conduct a launch test of its New Glenn rocket in May this year.
However, the static fire test resulted in an explosion and the launch was delayed. Notably, the New Glenn rocket reached orbit on its first launch back in January 2025
Elon Musk Targets Petawatt Goal
Musk, on Wednesday, also touted his goal to reach a petawatt of power. “Perspicacious path to a petawatt/year,” the trillionaire said in his post on X, outlining that he understood the steps needed to take to reach the power figure.
One petawatt is equal to 1,000 Terawatts or a million gigawatts. Musk’s petawatt goals would be tied to his target of making humanity reach a Kardashev II civilization that will be capable of harnessing all of the Sun’s power.
Musk’s goals also involve Lunar-based manufacturing, deep-space AI compute satellites, as well as a Lunar Mass Driver to enable deep-space launches.
