Electric vehicle company Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN) recently launched the new R2 SUV, the company’s cheapest model to date. The R2 and other Rivian vehicles got the spotlight for the Halloween season thanks to a collaboration with one of the most well-known supernatural movie franchises of all-time.

Rivian Partners with Ghostbusters
Rivian continues its annual tradition of adding Halloween-themed features to its vehicles for owners. This year’s Halloween features center on the hit "Ghostbusters" film franchise.
Software updates include an immersive Ghostbusters experience, a scavenger hunt, lights and sounds from the films and more. The features are available for the R1S, R1T and R2 and are available from Oct. 9 through Nov. 2.
The collaboration with Sony Pictures, which is a unit of Sony Group Corp (NYSE:SONY), includes a one-off customized Ecto-1 Rivian vehicle and a commercial that features original "Ghostbusters" actor Bill Murray once again portraying the iconic role of Dr. Peter Venkman and hunting ghosts in the Rivian EV.
The commercial, which can be viewed below, also features the iconic "Ghostbusters" theme song from Ray Parker Jr.
Will the Collaboration Pay Off?
When it comes to celebrity endorsements, Murray may not jump off the page as a top billing. This is, of course, less about Murray as an endorsee and more about the fun Halloween features for the Rivian vehicles.
The commercial and collaboration could show more consumers the annual tradition of Rivian adding Halloween features. While this likely isn’t a game changer or a full reason to buy the EV, it shows Rivian is focused on fun and connecting with consumers.

Rivian recently reported third-quarter deliveries of 19,248 vehicles. That figure was up from 13,201 in the prior year and also higher than the 12,194 and 10,365 vehicles delivered in the second and first quarters of this year, respectively.
The EV company expects 65,000 to 75,000 deliveries this year, which implies 23,193 to 33,193 vehicles delivered in the fourth quarter.
A "Ghostbusters" collaboration may not seem like much, but it could keep momentum going on an already strong year for Rivian.
Rivian will report third-quarter financial results Oct. 29. Analysts expect the company to report record revenue of $1.97 billion, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
The company has beaten analyst estimates for revenue in seven straight quarters and in nine of the last 10 quarters overall.
