U.S. stocks were lower, with the Dow Jones falling over 200 points on Thursday.

Shares of Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCSA) rose sharply after the company reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results.

Comcast posted adjusted earnings of 79 cents per share, beating market estimates of 73 cents per share. The company's quarterly sales came in at $31.457 billion versus expectations of $30.425 billion.

Comcast shares jumped 6.7% to $31.32 on Thursday.
