U.S. stocks traded mixed midway through trading, with the Dow Jones index falling more than 150 points on Friday.

The Dow traded down 0.35% to 49,137.50 while the NASDAQ rose 1.45% to 24,793.34. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.65% to 7,154.55.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Information technology shares jumped by 1.6% on Friday.

In trading on Friday, health care stocks fell by 1.3%.

Procter & Gamble Co (NYSE:PG) reported better-than-expected third-quarter financial results.

Procter & Gamble reported quarterly earnings of $1.59 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.56 per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $21.235 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $20.516 billion.

  • Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC) shares shot up 23% to $81.92 after the company reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results and issued second-quarter guidance above estimates.
  • Shares of Maxlinear Inc (NASDAQ:MXL) got a boost, surging 73% to $59.40 after the company reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results and issued second-quarter sales guidance above estimates.
  • Aeye Inc (NASDAQ:LIDR) shares were also up, gaining 45% to $2.44 following the appointment of Paul Berton as the company’s new Vice President of Operations and Quality.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Auddia Inc (NASDAQ:AUUD) shares dropped 62% to $1.94 after the company announced pricing of $12 million public offering.
  • Shares of Charter Communications Inc (NASDAQ:CHTR) were down 21% to $191.89 after the company reported worse-than-expected first-quarter EPS results.
  • Sonoma Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SNOA) was down, falling 45% to $0.99 after the company announced pricing of $4 million public offering.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded down 0.5% to $95.40 while gold traded up 0.3% at $4,739.00.

Silver traded up 0.4% to $75.815 on Friday, while copper fell 1% to $6.0205.

Euro zone

European shares were lower today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 declined 0.49%, while Spain's IBEX 35 Index fell 0.88%. London's FTSE 100 fell 0.45%, Germany's DAX slipped 0.04% and France's CAC 40 fell 0.73% during the session.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed mixed on Friday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 gaining 0.97%, China's Shanghai Composite declining 0.33%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rising 0.24% and India's BSE Sensex dropping 1.29%.

Economics

The University of Michigan's Consumer Sentiment Index rose to 49.8 in April versus preliminary reading of 47.6.
