VCI Global Limited (NASDAQ:VCIG) traded lower on Thursday as traders took profits after a sharp run-up pushed the stock into overbought territory.

VCIG fell, moving against a broader market that was modestly higher, with the Nasdaq up 0.35% and the S&P 500 gaining 0.27%.

The pullback appeared stock-specific, reflecting a technical reset after recent volatility rather than a broader market selloff.

Insider Investment Raises CEO Stake

The Malaysia-based company’s CEO, Hoo Voon Him, invested $1.77 million through two private subscription agreements disclosed in May 2026 filings.

Hoo bought 1.2 million shares on May 20 at 75 cents each for $900,000, then purchased 654,135 shares on May 26 at $1.33 each for $870,000.

The deals lifted his direct beneficial ownership to about 33.097%, increasing his holdings to 2,225,533 shares.

VCI said the capital would strengthen its capital structure and expand working capital resources.

Use Of Proceeds And Share Terms

VCI placed the $1.77 million in gross proceeds into corporate treasury asset pools for general working capital and corporate purposes.

VCI said it issued no warrants, options, derivative sweeteners, or variable-rate conversion price adjustments tied to the transactions.

Board Change

Separately, VCI disclosed that board member Liew Soo Hua resigned as an executive director, effective May 26. The company said the resignation did not stem from any disagreement over operations, policies, finance, accounting or practices.s.

VCIG Stock: Key Technical Levels To Watch

Momentum is stretched, with RSI at 93.97, suggesting buyers may be exhausted, and the stock could cool or consolidate.

RSI measures how "overbought" or "oversold" a stock is based on the speed and persistence of recent price moves.

VCIG remains in a damaged long-term trend, trading far below its 100-day and 200-day SMAs.

Short-term traders have pushed the stock far above its 20-day and 50-day SMAs, which helps explain why dip-buyers can suddenly step aside.

The moving-average stack also flags lingering bearish trend risk, with the 20-day SMA below the 50-day SMA and the 50-day SMA below the 200-day SMA.

  • Key Resistance: $5.25 — near the 50-day EMA, a common "first ceiling" during rebound attempts
  • Key Support: 71 cents — the 52-week low zone from May, a key reference if volatility accelerates
