U.S. stocks traded mixed midway through trading, with the Dow Jones index falling around 0.1% on Monday.
The Dow traded down 0.07% to 52,861.61 while the NASDAQ rose 1.36% to 26,183.03. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.69% to 7,535.19.
Leading and Lagging Sectors
Information technology shares jumped by 2% on Monday.
In trading on Monday, consumer staples stocks fell by 1.9%.
Top Headline
The ISM services PMI declined to 54.0 in June from 54.5 in May, in-line with market estimates.
Equities Trading UP
- Terawulf Inc (NASDAQ:WULF) shares shot up 13% to $23.84 after the company announced it executed a 20-year lease deal with Anthropic at its Justified Data campus. Also, the company announced it will sell its 50.1% ownership interest in Abernathy Joint Venture.
- Shares of AXT Inc (NASDAQ:AXTI) got a boost, surging 18% to $66.87. AXT-Tongmei entered into a master development and supply agreement with Coherent effective June 25.
- KIDZ AI Inc (NASDAQ:KIDZ) shares were also up, gaining 109% to $1.42 after the company announced it unveiled KIDZBot, an AI Robotics learning platform
Equities Trading DOWN
- REE Automotive Ltd (NASDAQ:REE) shares dropped 65% to $0.072. REE Automotive announced the receipt of Nasdaq delisting notice.
- Shares of Alarum Technologies Ltd – ADR (NASDAQ:ALAR) were down 49% to $3.23 after the company announced it decided to temporarily pause traffic through the relevant network services for several days.
- Solstice Advanced Materials Inc (NASDAQ:SOLS) was down, falling 12% to $70.30 after the company announced that it will acquire Element Solutions for approximately $14.5 billion in cash and stock.
Commodities
In commodity news, oil traded up 0.1% to $68.74 while gold traded up 0.8% at $4,158.60.
Silver traded up 2% to $62.275 on Monday, while copper rose 0.8% to $6.2165.
Euro zone
European shares were lower today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 fell 0.5%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index fell 0.7%. London’s FTSE 100 fell 0.4%, Germany’s DAX declined 0.1%, while France’s CAC 40 slipped 0.4%.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mixed on Monday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 falling 0.009%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gaining 1.14%, China’s Shanghai Composite slipping 0.06% and India’s BSE Sensex gaining 0.67%.
Economics
- The S&P Global services PMI climbed to 51.2 in June from 50.7 in the prior month, but slightly lower from the flash reading of 51.3.
- The S&P Global composite PMI rose to 51.9 in June from 51.5 in the previous month, but down from the preliminary reading of 52.2.
- The ISM services PMI declined to 54.0 in June from 54.5 in May, in-line with market estimates.
