Ensign Group Inc. (NASDAQ:ENSG) stock is trading up after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter earnings and raised fiscal 2026 estimates.

The skilled nursing facility operator reported adjusted earnings of $1.92 per share, beating the consensus of $1.84.

Sales of $1.44 billion, up 17.3% year over year, were in line with the estimates.

Occupancy, Skilled Mix and Medicare Trends Improve

Same Facility and Transitioning Facility occupancy were 84.1% and 84.7%, an increase of 2.7% and 2.3%, respectively, over the prior year quarter.

Skilled mix revenue increased by 10.1% and 14.0%, respectively, and skilled days increased by 6.2% and 9.4%, respectively.

Medicare revenue for the quarter improved by 9.8% and 9.6%, respectively, and Medicare days improved by 5.1% and 5.2%, respectively.

Managed care revenue improved by 6.1% and 16.2%, respectively, and managed care days for the quarter improved by 1.9% and 7.6%, respectively.

Skilled services revenue for the quarter increased by 6.6% and 6.1%.

Management Highlights Acquisition Pipeline

Speaking to the company’s acquisition growth, Chad Keetch, Ensign’s chief investment officer and executive vice president, said,

“In addition, we continue to acquire new operations with significant long-term upside and expect to maintain a healthy pace of growth … We continue to see opportunities that include everything from larger portfolios, landlords looking to replace current tenants, nonprofits looking to divest of their post-acute assets and a steady flow of traditional one-sie two-sies,” Keetch added.

“We continue to see strong demand across our portfolio, improving occupancy and skilled mix. We also continue to grow in a disciplined way through acquisitions. We believe our results this quarter position us well for the remainder of the year and reinforce our confidence in our long-term strategy,” said Barry Port, CEO of The Ensign Group.

Ensign Raises FY2026 Earnings and Revenue Guidance

Ensign Group raised its fiscal 2026 earnings guidance from $7.48-$7.62 per share to $7.75-$7.85 per share compared to the consensus of $7.04.

The facilities operator also raised its 2026 sales guidance from $5.81 billion-$5.86 billion to $5.87 billion-$5.92 billion compared to $5.842 billion.
