Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) stock rose more than 5% in Friday’s premarket session as investors returned to AI-focused semiconductor stocks after strong cloud infrastructure updates from major technology companies. Nasdaq futures gained 0.84%, while S&P 500 futures rose 0.20%.
Marvell rallied after major cloud providers reinforced expectations for continued AI infrastructure spending. Capital expenditure updates from Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) supported the outlook for AI data center investment.
Amazon.com, Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AMZN) AWS also said it reached a $25 billion annual revenue run rate from services powered by its custom AI chips. The update boosted sentiment for companies tied to AI networking and custom silicon, including Marvell.
Marvell is well positioned to benefit from continued investment in AI networking, custom chips and cloud infrastructure, making it sensitive to changes in hyperscaler spending plans.
The move also reflected broader risk-on sentiment across semiconductor stocks as investors added exposure to high-growth technology names.
Technical Analysis
Marvell remains in a consolidation phase despite Friday’s rally.
The stock is trading 7.8% below its 20-day simple moving average (SMA) and 19.3% below its 50-day SMA, suggesting near-term resistance remains. However, it is 4.6% above its 100-day SMA and 43.4% above its 200-day SMA, indicating the longer-term uptrend is still intact.
The 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA, a bearish crossover that suggests recent rallies have struggled to gain momentum. Still, the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA, preserving the longer-term bullish “golden cross” that formed in October 2025.
Momentum indicators remain cautious. The MACD is below its signal line, and the histogram is negative, indicating buying momentum has weakened.
Key technical support sits near $178, where buyers previously stepped in.
