Biotechnology firm Tiziana Life Sciences Ltd. (NASDAQ:TLSA) on Friday revealed promising quantitative PET imaging results from the third patient participating in its Phase 2 clinical trial.
The ongoing study evaluates the company’s lead candidate, intranasal foralumab, designed as a treatment for Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).
The latest data indicates a significant reduction in neuroinflammatory activity within disease-relevant brain regions following the completion of the dosing regimen.
Consistent Imaging Results Across Trial Patients
Quantitative analysis of the patient’s pre- and post-treatment PET scans showed notable decreases in radiotracer uptake.
These improvements were localized in areas heavily impacted by MSA, specifically the cerebellar white matter and basal ganglia.
The third participant demonstrated up to a 34% decrease in standardized uptake value (SUV) and a 26% drop in standardized uptake value ratio (SUVR).
These compelling findings closely mirror the outcomes of the first two MSA patients treated in the trial.
Those previous participants experienced an approximate 35% reduction in SUV and a 24% reduction in SUVR, reinforcing the drug’s potential to consistently lower neuroinflammation.
Addressing A Rare Neurodegenerative Disorder
Multiple System Atrophy is a neurodegenerative condition characterized by severe autonomic dysfunction, parkinsonism, and cerebellar ataxia.
Intranasal foralumab operates as a fully human, anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody.
It is uniquely formulated to regulate the immune system through mechanisms of mucosal tolerance.
This specific approach aims to decrease inflammation effectively while avoiding the systemic toxicities typically linked to conventional anti-CD3 treatments.
Moving forward, Tiziana plans to continue evaluating intranasal foralumab in additional clinical trial patients.
The next step will help further validate these recent findings and better characterize the therapy’s capacity to mitigate neuroinflammation in individuals battling MSA.
In June, Tiziana Life Sciences dosed the last patient in its ongoing Phase 2a clinical trial of intranasal foralumab for non-active Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.
Topline data is expected in late third quarter or early fourth quarter of 2026.
TLSA Price Action: Tiziana Life Sciences shares were up 6.19% at $1.04 at the time of publication on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
