Biotechnology firm Enveric Biosciences (NASDAQ:ENVB) revealed additional preclinical findings reinforcing the non-hallucinogenic nature of its primary drug candidate, EB-003.

The company aims to treat psychiatric and neurological disorders by preserving the therapeutic benefits of neuroplasticity without inducing a hallucinatory experience.

Advanced Assays Confirm Drug Profile

The latest evaluations utilized a highly sensitive live-cell test known as the Promega GloSensor cAMP assay, which detects subtle receptor responses in real-time.

When tested alongside established hallucinogens and non-hallucinogenic reference compounds, EB-003 consistently registered strictly within the non-hallucinogenic spectrum.

These results correspond closely with recent peer-reviewed research identifying specific signaling traits that distinguish hallucinogenic compounds from non-hallucinogenic ones in humans.

Combined with previously reported assay results, this complementary evidence strengthens the company’s development strategy as it actively prepares to advance EB-003 into first-in-human Phase 1 clinical trials.

Bypassing Regulatory Hurdles

The FDA recently outlined the unique operational and clinical challenges associated with traditional psychedelic therapies. These hurdles include functional unblinding, intense patient monitoring, and strict psychotherapy requirements.

If upcoming human trials confirm the non-hallucinogenic profile of EB-003, the company believes the therapeutic could effectively mitigate these complexities.

In May, Enveric Biosciences highlighted preclinical findings for EB-003, pointing to rapid reductions in PTSD-related fear responses, as recent federal policy signals growing support for psychedelic-based mental health treatments.

The company said a single dose of EB-003 significantly reduced context-induced freezing behavior within one hour in a validated preclinical PTSD model, suggesting a fast-acting impact on conditioned fear responses.

ENVB Stock Price Activity: Enveric Biosciences shares were down 7.69% at $1.56 during premarket trading on Wednesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
