- Virgin Galactic Holdings shares are retreating from recent levels. What’s pressuring SPCE stock?
Q2 Financial Performance Surpasses Wall Street Expectations
The company posted a net loss of 50 cents per share on $134,000 in revenue, topping consensus estimates of a 66 cent loss per share and $126,667 in sales. While revenue declined from $406,000 in second-quarter 2025, net loss narrowed from $67 million to $56 million due to lower operating expenses and debt management.
Commercial Launch Schedule Pushed to 2027
Market pressure stemmed primarily from a delay in commercial operations. Virgin Galactic pushed its first commercial spaceflight from the fourth quarter of 2026 to February 2027 to complete avionics and systems installations.
Captive carry flight testing remains scheduled for October 2026, with a second spaceship targeted to join the fleet in March 2027. The company closed the quarter with $286 million in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities.
Management Commentary Highlights Demand and Outlook
Addressing the update, CEO Michael Colglazier emphasized robust customer interest alongside the timeline adjustment. “Our tranche of spaceflight expeditions priced at $750,000 was oversubscribed and booked out ahead of schedule, demonstrating strong demand,” Colglazier noted.
He affirmed that shifting commercial service to February 2027 allows essential time for vehicle installations while keeping the company on track to deliver positive quarterly cash flow within 2027.
