The trading activity of members of Congress continues to generate increased attention from retail investors, especially when the trades are made in private companies and can’t be readily copied.

Senator Discloses Private Company Trades

Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.) recently disclosed transactions involving five private companies, as reported by the Benzinga Government Trades page.

The trades were all disclosed on Aug. 13, 2026, and are as follows:

  • Nov. 4, 2025: Sold $50,000 to $100,000 in Sana Labs, a private Swedish software company.
  • Nov. 3, 2025: Bought $1,000 to $15,000 in Grant Street Group, a Pennsylvania software company.
  • July 8, 2025: Bought $1,000 to $15,000 in AIA Contract Documents, a Washington, D.C., construction contract software company.
  • June 28, 2025: Sold $500,000 to $1,000,000 in Ansett Holdings, an aviation training company in Australia.
  • June 16, 2025: Bought $1,000 to $15,000 in Constitution Surgery Alliance, a Connecticut health care company.

Members of Congress can buy stakes in private companies, but must disclose the trades similar to stock transactions under the STOCK Act. This would mean a 45-day deadline of transactions was not met, and Sheehy faces potential violations and fines for his recent disclosure.

Benzinga reached out for comment and did not hear back.

Nancy Pelosi disclosing an investment in Databricks and Lisa McClain disclosing an investment in xAI are recent examples of high-profile private company investments made by members of Congress.

Sheehy’s Trading History

These mark the first trades disclosed by Sheehy since he became a member of the U.S. Senate in January 2025, according to data from Quiver Quantitative.

The former CEO and founder of Bridger Aerospace (NASDAQ:BAER), Sheehy resigned from the CEO role to focus on his Senate campaign. Bridger went public via SPAC merger in 2023 and shares are down around 88% since their debut.

Sheehy still holds a large stake in the company and is worth an estimated $146.6 million by Quiver Quantitative.

A 2023 Business Insider report estimated Sheehy to be worth $74 million to $260 million at the time and one of the richest members of Congress if elected.

Sheehy has faced questions about his trading disclosures in the past. The nonprofit End Citizens United filed a complaint against the Senate candidate in 2024.

The complaint alleged that Sheehy didn’t disclose nine investments or share financial details of his financials related to a book for which he received compensation, as reported by The Hill.
